Are there any job vacancies in the business services?
Horizon Foundation has a limited number of positions for people with disabilities, currently we are capped at 33 employees. Voluntary work experience is an option for people to gain skills in our mailing house and carpentry workshops. When job vacancies arise, interested candidates can apply and are then selected based on their suitability. Horizon Foundation can also assist people with disabilities to find work with a wide range of employers. Read more
How can I apply to have my son or daughter attend Clear Horizons?
Firstly, funding needs to be allocated through Disability Services Queensland (DSQ) for Post-School Options, or Lifestyle Support. Go to http://www.disability.qld.gov.au/ or contact your nearest DSQ office.
Once funding is granted, you can then apply for a placement within Clear Horizons 1:1 Service or Group Programs, or a combination of the two. Read more
Do you give any funding to individuals?
If you are a person with a disability, or someone caring for a person with a disability, who has an urgent, unmet need during an emergency, Horizon Foundation has an ER Program. Read more
I have a child with a disability, what services are relevant to our family?
Axiom Family Support Program administers funding granted by Disability Services Queensland’s (DSQ) Family Support Program. In this program, families are supported to maintain their family member with a disability within the family home. Axiom’s Facilitators help families to access and pay for appropriate services, such as specialist care or respite, as well as equipment and aids. To be eligible, families must be successful in being granted the funding from DSQ, and we can advise on this application process. Currently we support over 100 families in Brisbane, Redlands, Logan, Beaudesert and Gold Coast Regions. Read more
This year, a pilot program started at Clear Horizons called Baby Bridges. Baby Bridges provides respite and support to carers of children with a disability aged 0-5 years, as well as early intervention therapy for the child. Read more about this program here.
Can Horizon help people with a disability into employment?
Yes we can. Our specialist employment service, Link Personnel works with jobseekers with an illness, disability or injury, to successfully find a job in the open employment market. Employment Coordinators work with you to assist you into a job, and make sure it is working well for you. Link can arrange subsidies that provide some financial incentive to employers. To register with Link Personnel, jobseekers must be referred by Centrelink. Read more
Jobseekers who are ineligible for Link’s services are assisted by Horizon Job Futures – our award-winning job network agency. People facing barriers to employment are assisted into well-matched jobs, through the services our Employment Consultants provide, including job searching techniques; assistance with resume-writing; interview skills training; and help with the cost of uniforms, transport and child care if needed. Registration with Horizon Job Futures is voluntary. Read more
